What is PRP Facial?
Treatment is a combination of micro- needling followed by the application of PRP (platelet-rich plasma). PRP is derived from the serum portion of the blood, which contains platelets. Platelets contain high levels of growth factors, which, when applied to the skin, will stimulate cell turnover.
Platelets are rich in growth factors, which essentially act as energy boots for our skin. This helps our skin function optimally, increasing everything from collagen to elastin, while also bringing antioxidant and hydrating properties. PRP is now commonly used tropically as part of a regular facial, used along with microneedling to enhance penetration into the skin, and is even being injected into the skin in like mesotherapy.
The Process?
The Treatment begins with venipuncture (a blood draw) to obtain the blood, relatively painless aside from the first needle pinch. Typically, process includes the initial blood draw, then running the blood through a centrifuge to isolate the platelets. You’ll then receive micro needling or microdermabrasion just before PRP are slathered across the face.
This can be accompanied with or without radio frequency or LED Therapy for maximum results. May take a day or two to recover, emerge from treatment a bit red, which means post-procedure sunscreen is highly recommended and makeup is discourage
How many treatment?
Multiple treatments may be needed for optimal results and treatments should be performed no more than once a month.
What are the side effects?
because it only uses your own platelets, there's no risk of allergies or adverse reactions, some people experience mild redness and swelling due to the tiny microneedles, but this resolves without intervention within 24-48 hours. Your face may also feel itchy and puffy for a few days after you have had the treatment. This is perfectly normal and will generally settle within 24-48 hours.
Further to this, you may also suffer from mild bruising around your eyes and the injection sites, but this largely depends on how sensitive your skin is, and most patients recover with little to no visible bruising.
